I have Hornady 300 grn. EZ load High speed low drag sabo's and some bonded Shockwave 265's(or 285) --Is 100 grains of T7 a good starting place for each of these? I also have Pyro and Shocky Gold to try.

100 grains would be a good starting point, depending on your rifle.. My CVA likes less of a load and my Knights like 100 grains or more.

The best starting point is 90 gr of Black Horn 209 [if you have a closed in 209 ignition]as it would be easier to get the gun to group, after that Pyrodex and 777[ if you get crud ring you will regret the 777] All the APP powders are nmoisture senitive and atteact moisture if you live in a dry desert of have a dehumidifying set up in a gun safe and keep your powder there it will do but it is weak compaired to the others.
If you have found any Shock Waves other than the 200gr 50/40, the 250gr and the 300gr please PM me the info on them, my balistics program says the ideal weight[ weight=length ]for a 45 cal bullet [1-28 twist]with a lead core is 275 gr and I like SW's. Lee

i'd like to know whre those other SW's are also.. all I can find are 200-250-300grain ones. I like the 250's since you shoot flatter(like the 200's)but it does have some knockdown power like the 300's

but yes 100 grains is the ideal starting point and you may actaully like the 100grain load and keep it there. I shot 90-100 grains for 10 years. I only stepped up to 115 this year due to the Blackhorn209 coming out and the new Endeavor I bought

Of the Shockwave bullets (200, 250, 300) I would use the 200 or 300 before I would use the 250. The reason is energy on target. The 200 using 100gr of 777 averages a little under 2000fps and has close to a 200 yard 6" point blank range up here where I am (6500 feet) and still has over 1100 fp energy at 200 yards. The 300 pushed by 100gr 777 has a PBR of right at 170 yards and just over 1150 fpe at 200 yards. The 250 pushed by 100gr 777 has a PBR of 173 yards but only has about 975 fpe at 200 yards. The 300 only drops about .75" more than the 250 at 200 yards so the trajectory difference is negligable. Of course all of them will get the job done on deer out to 200 yards so which ever shoots best in your gun is the one to go with. I just prefer the one with the best energy and trajectory combo that shoots well in my gun. I plan on using the 200 SW for my deer hunt this year. For elk I'm probably going to use the 350 FPB.

I like the 200gr SW too 120 gr BH gives 2250 FPS, I am not about to let numbers worry me been using it for 2 years for my long range spot every thing I have shot with it was a bang flop. Lee

As always you guys are correct. I must have thought I picked up another pack. The local Mom and Pop sporting goods store had a TON of older bullets in crazy weights. I bought the 250 Bonded Shockwaves.

I would LOVE to shoot the 209, but I have a KRB and that isn't the best gun for the BH 209....or so I've read!

that knight will shoot just fine with T7 or the loose powder also Ive been a knight guy for years with no issues and good groups. Just wanted to try a different ML'er for once and I really like the T/C feel I still couldnt pick one brand over the other

Lee-Good advise. These bullets need to be pushed hard or they do not expand well if you do not hit bone. Others may dissagree,but this has been my experiance.
