I was poking around looking at the pages on the evolving Black Horn 209 site and noticed they now have a PDF file of cartridge loads using the powder and rifle/pistol primers. The length of the BP must be the reason for the 209 requirement for muzzleloaders.

I don't recall off the top of my head what the conversion factor is for weight vs volume but they do have loads in 45 and 50 caliber that have up to 71 grains by weight behind some rather large bullets (some over 500 grains). I guess this shows they are continueing to test the powder for different applications and bullet sizes. I didn't see a chart for muzzleloaders but the site is still "under construction".

Thanks David. Good poop.
I looked at their cartridge chart for 44 Special and 45-70. They must be dreaming thinking anyone would use BH in this way.I can get those velocities easily with much much cheaper powder.

I think a lot of this may be geared toward the cowboy action shooters. This powder would be better from a fowling stand point than some of the other BP subs or real black powder. I'm more interested in the ML applications but found the larger caliber info interesting and see a parallel to ML applications.

Trail Boss is a relatively new powder developed specifically for cowboy action shooting, and it's priced right. That's why I can't understand the price of Blackhorn. I think it's a ream job.

Semisane,
I agree with you on all of that, If they were packaging it in a pound for the current price it would be at least comparable to the other BP subs like 777.
txhunter58A,
I hope your right.
