Went to a pawn shop, took my savage 30-06 with me, they had an cva hawkens 50cal, got an even trade for it.
the gun looks like it is great shape. bore looks great too. only thing that was missing was a nipple.
so it takes a 6x1?
1in48 twist?

found a bonus about 10 caps

may end up refinishing the stock. it was not what I was looking for but it should be fun.

great looking rifle corey! If you refinish the stock, do not use an oil stain! Beech wood will not soak it up.
I PMed you back on my forum with some loads to try out. Exact same rifle that my brother has!

Maybe it wasn't an oil at all...
Anyway, great looking gun. I think it looks pretty good the way it is.
I have also been getting the itch for an older type percussion. May have to go start looking at some pawn shops.

kirby,
keep an eye on the classifieds on this site. there are always a sidelock coming up for sale.
I got lucky on this one. I think, couple people another forum said something about the nipple being blowen off. I remember looking at this same gun a few months ago and one was on it.
