RE: SST velocity

oldsmellhound, They have worked really well for me , but I would be just a bit more comfortable with a bonded bullet. I shot a nice boar on a diagonal through the spot right between the neck and the front shoulder and it exited through the ham we doug around in the dirt looking for it but could not find it. it the chest shot boar and both deer I have used it on were all bang flops so no complaints but if they brought a bullet out just like it that was bonded I would switch.
dmurphy317Thanks David,I am trying to find a good reliable radio remote. Lee

RE: SST velocity

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like if I sight in to be 2.3" high at 100 yards, I'll be dead on at 150 and 5.7" low at 200. At 200 yards I'll still have almost 1000 ft/lbs of energy. Looks pretty hard to beat from my point of view, especially with the accuracy I've been getting.

Lee - I understand preferring a bonded bullet. However I feel okay about using the unbonded for what I need it for - long range open plains shooting at medium-sized deer. I'm usually good about waiting for a nice broadside shot too. I just wish Hornady would give us another .40 SST - either a 200 grain bonded or something in the 230 - 240 grain range. Would make things more interesting...
