Default Rendezvous ready!

Just finished sighting in the cva hawken. I ended up using 40g pyrodex P, 177g homecast .490 round ball and a .54cal .015 prelubed patch. 1" high @ 50 yards, dead on @ 75yards. I can't mention the groups @ 75 yards. Could be spy's in here

Now to build some shooting sticks.

Cayugad, i believe its you who made your own, ive seen some pics but can not remember exactly how yours look. Would you mind posting some pics? I need some idea's on how to make a set.

FG - I made a pair of sticks using 48", 5/8" hardwood dowels. I drilled a hole thru both about 4" from one end and put in a machine screw and nut, cut off the excess thread and peened it over. I put small washers on the outsides of the dowels so the screw wouldn't work thru the dowels, and a slightly larger one between the dowels to allow a freer movement. The upper portion I wrapped with self stick felt which I cut into strips. You could also use an old belt or leather strap tacked to the tops of the dowels.
On the lower ends I drilled a 1/8" hole and tapped in a galvanized nailand snipped it off leaving about 1/2" exposed. Gives a good grip on almost any terrain.
These sticks are long enough to use as a walking stick and can be used in the sitting and kneeling position.
Have fun on your rendezvous.

Saxman, I just finished building my shooting sticks, Work great, nice'N Solid. After Rendezvous, i'll build you a set. No need for you to spend a lot of money on shooting sticks. You've helped me a lot with everything you done for me. I'll even ship them in a plastic tubing to prevent breakage.

Well i added some strips of medium thickness Red cloth to part of the sticks and went shooting. Did great, Dead on at 50 an 75 yards and 2" low 100 yards. Insane for only 40g Pyrodex P lol. I am using .54-.56cal patches as they seem to offer tighter groups, plus they are easier to center the ball.
No turning back now.
