Great Plains Hunter try out
My new/used GPH looks like it found a home. Its a 50 cal flinter. The target below was shot at 50 yds using 275 gr Maxihunters and 320 gr Maxiballs with 70 and 80 gr of FFFg.
The 3 shots just below the bull were as high as I could get it before I had to take out the file.
Except for the couple of flyers the elongated hole just left of center is a cumulation of 12 shots with gradual filing. This rifle CAN SHOOT. And it doesn't seem to matter with either bullet or 70 or 80 grs.

Semi hit the nail on the head.
Nothin touches me more than seeing a fellow member with a flinter shootin black powder and powerbelts.
Make sure you set up a box or even a bucket filled with sand. You can get your lead back, buy a $20 lee mold and cast either round balls or even the R.E.A.L conicals.

Sorry to disappoint you Gander but I won'twaste my money on powerbelts when I can cast and shoot my own lead cast bullets to shoot like this. Hope I didn't break your heart. Anyway, that's a good idea with the sand.

Without a doubt that is some good shooting. It always makes me smile when I see a flintlock or cap lock with open sights shoot that well. Then I look at the gun rack and wonder why I have all those inline rifles...
That kind of accuracy is hard to match. Nice shooting there. I bet you can not wait to hit the range again.

Yeoman - that was plain old Goex FFFg
Cayugad - that's why when you look in my safes you won't find any inlines....
I just love my traditional sidelocks. Fortunately my eyes are still good for distance. Its up close where I need the goggles.

Better do it Bronco. You know Gander won't be able to sleep until Powerbelts have been tried in every gun owned by forum members.
