Default Woohoo! (I think)

Well, after debating for that last couple weeks, it looks like my wife and I are going to move back to her parents farm in MN. She just found out she's pregnant with kid #2. The first is only 7 months, we don't have a lot of help here and I'm on call 24 hours a day, which means I'm gone a lot. So, we're going to move closer to her family for some help and I'll have a job with normal hours.

The cool part is that there's some pretty good deerhunting, the place is getting to be overrun with turkey, there's a place to shoot right behind the house, and my father-in-law has some really nice reloading stuff that he doesn't use anymore, not to mention a huge gun collection that he doesn't shoot anymore (health problems.) I've never gone turky hunting, so I'll have to figure out how to go about that, but other than that, it should be a pretty sweet deal. If anyone here is in the central MN are or is willing to travel to it, there might be a turkey hunt available in exchange for showing a newbie how to do it.

Congratulations on the expectation of the new baby. My best wishes to the mother and upcoming newborn. I really wish them the best. And to you as the proud father... Also sounds like you have a good job and being close to family is a good thing.

When I was younger, because of work, I was for to move far away from everyone of my relatives.. Well they found me and followed me to that town, so I moved again. Already, they are filtering into this area of the state. I guess I better start looking in Alaska, but I have a sister there.

No really, it sounds like a great set up, and the additional family members will add a great deal of comfort to your wife and children. Its nice to have them around. (As long as they don't visit often and stay too long.. Cuts into my range time you know). Besides, hunting landand shooting places are a great thing. Way to score there!!!

Good luck. What part of Central MN are you going to be near. My father's side of the family was originally from the north western part of Minnesota up along Hwy 2 towards the Dakota's. There are still a bunch of in laws, and outlaws up in that area...

Congrats on the bun in the oven. My first two kids were born 1 year & 15 days apart. Two very young ones can be a handful, and having family close by sure eased the load for my wife and me. Hunting land and a place to shoot is just icing on the cake.

Congratulations! I am in south central Minnesota living on the family farm. Turkey hunting is pretty easy I think if you know how to sit quietly in a ground blind. Their population has just exploded around here. Good luck with your move and your family.

What town isthe farm close to? We hunt heavily in Central MN and I have deer hunting buddies that ride trains in that area (Hwy 10 basically. Fargo - St. Paul). Gramps was an engineer in Staples where my moms family grew up.

It's one of the small towns off Hwy. 10, about 15 mi. south of St. Cloud. It's a really nice area. I ride trains out here and tried to transfer, but they won't let me.
