RE: Something For Gander To Ponder
Ok i did something those weather proof inliners dont do. I went out shooting in total down pour. I blasted that SOB dead center, took the rifle inside, ran back out and removed the jug and found that it hit center, dug through the clay, That what the stuff looked like with all the rain that had soaked in.
4" of WET sand in front of the one gallon milk jug, and i found the bullet 3-4" inches behind the water jug. Bullet had hit a small rock that was in there and tore a small part of the pedal on the bullet but its still solid. I have Two of the platinums left so hopefully tomorrow i will be able to shoot more tomorrow and then give those 405's a try. Only have 5 of those left. In the last pic, you can see where the bullet hit the rock and weakened the side of the bullet on the left side. If it wouldnt have hit it, the bullet would have been perfect. Still held up great with that nasty gouge. ![]() ![]() |

More pictures from earlier of the 405g powerbelts.
Final shots of the day with the 405's. Far left are 2 shots with 80g pyrodex select @ 58 yards and the 3 on the right are with 90g PS. I wanted to see if the 80g charges still held that nice mushroom with the stem and they did. ![]() ![]() ![]() My Homework is done for the day. Now i have to go clean the sucker. After all those shots, i only swabbed the bore once when i blew the barrel out with the air hose only to find the sprayer was filled with water [:'(] You should'a heard what flew out of my mouth :D Even surprised my self. So Mr.Semi, Do I get an A on my homework assignment?:) |
RE: Something For Gander To Ponder
frontier gander,I repaired several that had long drums and had burrs on the end of the drum. I had to pull the breach plug grind the drum back with an air grinder the pull the drum out and clean off the burrs and put a slight bevel on the end of the drum. You do know you should slap the side of the barrel before loading a bullet in a drum rifle I hope. Lee

I beat the side of the stock to shift the powder over. I pulled the nipple and there was a full drum of powder, Popped 3 #11s and nothin! I started putting a drum full of 4g and we were talking instant ignition!

how is the recoil on those 405gr powerbelts. |
RE: Something For Gander To Ponder
Now bad at all. You can notice the recoil but it doesnt hurt thanks to the recoil pad.
