But when it comes to heavier bullets without sabots to ease the initial launch, that's when the High pressure spike will show itself[&:] Think about it.....It says TIGHT fitting sabots, FIRMLY packed powder charge, SEALED breech plug---for best results. I think everyone should realize it is a progressive burning powder as are all other center fire powders. It can be used in ML's not approved for smokeless because the company - General Dynamics -has proved that the pressures developed in the barrel are within the a specific range(s) of modern day black powder and black powder subs - when the powder BH-209is used as directed

All the load data is for 50cal. When I put 100g BH209 in my 45cal Disc Elite (causing higher pressures to start with), with a a 200g ShockWave....Ought to be pretty BLAZINGLY FAST:) I WILL be posting a lot of range reports with chrono readings:D;) |

The problem there is that BH-209 really does not do much better than T7-3f when loaded with comparable amounts of powder - when shooting light bullets.... where BH-209 really lights up is when shooting the heavier bullets which really aids the progessive burnof the powder. Those 200's will just get out the barrel before the pwder really has a chance to do it's thing... Now if they would make the powder with different burning rates as center fire powder is you could select the rate of burn you need to match the weight of the bullet you are pushing... |

Lane, As you know the way you load and the tightness of the sabot will make a big differance in the way this powder burns. In a Triumph in which the 50/40 blue sabots are very tight it reallysteps out much better than it did in the loose barrled Knight that they took those velocity readings with, they should have paper patchedwith course paper.
