Is the JSG you have on hand 2f or 3f.... a friend mine, owner of a local sporting goods store, just gave me an open bottle of JSG-2f that he had shot a few shots with- I am going to use it to shoot some PRB's with - hopefully tomorrow if it quits snowing... Did you say you did or did not have some .458 sabots on hand? Oh! and welcome to the site - I am very biased but it is the best site out there - lots of great people with a ton of knowing stuff |
RE: American Pioneer Powder & Knight Rifles
Its 2F I dont have any .458 sabots . But I loaded a .458 in one of the crush ribs. It went down the barrel almost as easy as the .452. Im not gonna mess with those. I went through my bullts & Ive only got 20 of those. I wanna save those for my 45/70.

Dave, In regards to Jim Shockey Sticks.I can not believe that they made it to market! I was dialing my Savage in at the range one day.A fellow came strolling up with a Disc Elite. He sat down and got set up and commenced to firing. His first shot actually startled me as a flaming still burning 'stick" came flying out!It was still burning when it hit the ground!I watched him do this several times,it happened every time! This was only one experience,if normal, WOW!

Savagehead.. it is my understanding that you are supposed to push down and crush them sticks BEFORE you load the sabot. No where is the convience in that? I shot some of the APP out of my two Knights. I was not impressed with the accuracy. The way it burned was nice and clean, but accuracy was moderate. Nothing to get excited about mind you. But I could shoot a deer at close range with it. In my old Disc I was actually shooting 120 grains of loose APP2f and it was doing pretty good with a 300 grain XTP. That old Disc rifle shoots about anything you shove down it though.

That must of been his problem. It sure did not look like he was putting much on it to seat it.I still get a chuckle every time I envision that! LOL!
