Before and after, Kentucky pistol
I acquired a .50 percussion Kentucky a couple of days ago and posted about it.
I can never leave well enough alone, so of course i had to tear it down, strip the awful factory finish, and do the stock in a simple Linseed oil finish.
I much prefer the way it looks now when compared to when it came to live with me. You could barely see the grain before.

I like the way the grain in the wood pops out with a lighter finish.
Especially on the grip.
I also did some sanding and softened the harsh lines on the stock. Much smoother now.

Not yet, Johnny. Maybe this coming Sunday will be a little free time.
To be honest, I liketinkering around with the guns as much as I like shooting them.

Ya know you guys just keep getting me in trouble with the little woman. Ya just gotta keep showing me these beautiful pieces and making me getthe, "I gotta get one of those!"syndrome. It started with the Hawkens, thenit wasthe flint lock, and now it is the percussion handgun.
