Default Looking For Lyman Sight

Hey guys, I've been searching the net for a Lyman 57GPR peep sight. Tried Track of the Wolf, Dixon's, and about a dozen others. Everyone has them on backorder. Seems Lyman got caught short on production because of a high demand created by a change in the law in Pennsylvania. Anyway, if anyone has a gun shop near them that has one in stock please let me know.

As do I. After I bought the KRB and scoped it, I took the 57sml and the 17 front sight off the Trade Rifle and went back to open sights on it.

The 57SML is the same as the 57GPR with one exception, the GPR version has a wedge adapter to get the correct angle above the tang. Lyman does sell the wedge separately, at least they did when I asked them last year.

Tell me about these things, guys. Am I wasting my time? Are they useful sights? I've heard good and bad - great sights for accuracy/target shooting, butworthless for hunting (uselessat dawn and dusk). Is that true.

I rarely use an aperture in any peep sight. I use them as a "ghost ring" and find they are just as accurate in most situations and a lot easier to see through.
I prefer the T/C sight that is not as bulky. The 57SML is a good sight, I just prefer something smaller.

I am not sure what the model number is on my Lyman sight on my Lyman MZ. I do use the twilight peep. You will definitely shoot more accurately with your peep sight. It is good enough for the miltary??? So I am sure it is good enough for a hunter. Buffalo Arms may have one in stock. I think I ordered mine directly from Lyman. Tom.
