That is a copy of the Ruger 77 bolt and reciever as Remington did the Model 700... nothing like the Black Diamond

Compare thisXR to the Ruger 77/50 below..

I do not own that gun but i would have a hard time calling that a Marlin Ruger MLS-50

I certainly looks like a "Black Diamond" to me.

I really have never heard of a "marlin" ml so maybe they did make one other than the Ruger that i am accustomed to - but i really thought I had seen most of them...

Gotta give the owner the benefit of the doubt - it must be a Marlin but is is new to me... can not believe thay made to many of them...

The mz in the link that chasam60 posted is a Marlin MLS 50. It's just like the one my buddy has. It was also made in a .54 caliber version, if memory serves me right. I've never seen a Marlin MZ that resembled the Ruger 77/50.

I am not sure why I tied Marlin to Ruger or Ruger to Marlin but clearly I was in left field

Chris= I read somewhere that someone converted a Ruger 77 to a MZ and used smokless powder. They bored out the reciever installed a breech plug and screwed on a custom barrel in 50 cal. Seems like a lot of work to me.

I sure thought the link TNhagie provided showed something similar to a Black Diamond. I was wondering where the RUger came into play.

Saw a used Mls.54 at Bob's Gun and Tackle in Hastings,Mi today, less than $200. Nice handling rifle!

The one I seen had similar construction to a System One or black Diamond except you could not change out the barrel. Lee
