Be interesting to find out if they actually designed and manufacturedthem or if somebody elsed did and sold them under the Marlin name. Like the new "remington" ML |
RE: Marlin Muzzleloader

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
Remington bought out Marlin so maybe it's a mixed gun. Here is the link:

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
Marlin was in the muzzleloader business back about 5, maybe6 years ago. A buddy of mine has one and really likes it. It's been a good shooter for him. They didn't make'em but a few years. Kind of the same thing they did with the bolt action rifle they use to manufactor.

Nothing like that guys - the marlin is simply a Marlin - manufactured about the same time as the Remington 700ML. It did have some obb ball characteristics but was at the time a real decent shooter. You can convert it to 209 with a conversion kit from Cabelas. I can not remember who made the barrel for them but itwasa decent company. The action is designed off the 77 action if I remember right. I also think the trigger was adjustable. If my memory is correct it is a short barrel. |
RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
I did a Google and found one for sale for $200.00. Owner says it was made by TC and is same as a Black Diamond.

I do not own that gun but i would have a hard time calling that a Marlin Ruger MLS-50 I certainly looks like a "Black Diamond" to me. I really have never heard of a "marlin" ml so maybe they did make one other than the Ruger that i am accustomed to - but i really thought I had seen most of them... Gotta give the owner the benefit of the doubt - it must be a Marlin but is is new to me... can not believe thay made to many of them... |
RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
I never heard of them until now,I wouldn't mind owning one though. I just don't have the need

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
The mz in the link that chasam60 posted is a Marlin MLS 50. It's just like the one my buddy has. It was also made in a .54 caliber version, if memory serves me right. I've never seen a Marlin MZ that resembled the Ruger 77/50.

I am not sure why I tied Marlin to Ruger or Ruger to Marlin but clearly I was in left field |
RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
Chris= I read somewhere that someone converted a Ruger 77 to a MZ and used smokless powder. They bored out the reciever installed a breech plug and screwed on a custom barrel in 50 cal. Seems like a lot of work to me.

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
Saw a used Mls.54 at Bob's Gun and Tackle in Hastings,Mi today, less than $200. Nice handling rifle!

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
The one I seen had similar construction to a System One or black Diamond except you could not change out the barrel. Lee

RE: Marlin Muzzleloader
My first inline muzzleloader was a Marlin MLS in 50 cal. It is black composite stock with a stainless barrel and I got it online around 5 years ago for $199.00 including shipping. I liked the Marlin because I'm a southpaw and it had a top tang safety and the bolt that you pull back could be changed to either the right or left side. It was a #11 cap nipple but I converted it over to 209 with a Traditions conversion kit. I still have it and it does shoot very good. I have gotten several more "updated" inlines since the Marlin but all they do different is allow me an easier clean at the end of the day.The Marlin shoots just as good as my newer and different brand muzzleloaders.

Does anyone know what part number the 209 conversion kit is?
