Default Question for MLKeith

You said you got your UMag from the cheif. Is that batcheif from DWB? If so is it a laminated stock UMag? I traded him mine for a Lightning about a year ago and was wondering if it is the same one. I still have an UMag with a synthetic stock. They are awsome guns. I also just bought the KRB7 and it is also looking like this is going to be one hell of a shooter. If a person wants the best of both worlds (conical and sabot) I dont think you could do much better than the KRB.

Yes I got it from him. He had it advertised for a short time and I managed to jump on it as I have been looking for one since Sprortsmans sold them. I was tied up in something else when all that happened and when I finally woke up they were all gone. It is laminated. Personally since I want it for hunting I would prefer the synthetic stock and have offered to trade anyone but seems that nobody wants to do that. I also just bought the KRB7 with synthetic stock. Have not had time to shoot it yet. As soon as the scope gets here for the U-Mag I plan to take them both out at the same time and do some heavy conical shooting as I only hunt elk. Deer in Arizona are few and far between and I am basically a meat hunter. Elk is a lot better eating than Mule Deer. I need to extend my shooting ability. I have been limiting my shots to 100 yards but the last time I got drawn I had to pass up elk at 140 yards ranged as I had not shot that far enough to be confident. Not going to let that happen again!!! I think both the U-Mag and the KRB should be able to do 150 yards with a good scope and some practice. Personally I think 200 yards is too far to shoot at animals with my abilities but I think I can do 150. I know some do 200 but not me.

Yeah thats the UM that I traded him for the Lightning. I had excellent groups with the 460grn Bullshop with 80grns of T7 fff and no wad. It is on the heavy side but it sure shot real good. I bought it and the synthetic stock at the same time from Sportsmans Warehouse. I ended keeping the syn stock. I've shot my KRB twice now and it is showing some impressive groups with the SST in the 300grn. By the way I lived in Queen Creek AZ for 19 years.

Rifle made it back as I live about 25 miles north of Queen Creek, about Power Road and McDowell. I assume you got the U-Mag when you were here. I have just received it and am waiting for a scope before I go to Usery range which is only four miles from me. Not bad distance but still wish I could shoot out the back door as lugging all the crap to the range and making sure not to forget something is a real pain, plus waiting for a bench when it is busy. Glad to hear it has prior experience and I plan on using heavy conicals with this one. Don't think I have Bullshop bullets but I do have some no-excuses that are similar. What primer did you use with the 777? I havea fair amount of the stuff as my Omega refuses to shoot it without a severe crud ring. Remington #11 seem to be the easiest to find lately. I have some CCI but they are a couple of years old but in the gun safe with dessicant so probably still good.

I bought the UMags here in Utah. I've always used and still do use the rws musket caps. I like the power and the ease of taking them off and putting them on.
