Pedersoli makes some nice flintlock Kentucky rifle kits. This one is .45 cal, but they've also got it in 32 and 50. I like the .45 myself because it was historically a popular caliber for longrifles and it's big enough for close up work on deer but not too big for small game. I know you said it's gonna be a showpiece but you never know... someone might catch the fever and decide to use it someday.

it is a little more then what I am looking for, I don't know if we want to pay a whole lot for something that may not be shot even once.

Thunder Ridge says it has the Traditions Kentucky kit in flintlock, but I can't see how they'd have it when Traditions doesn't showthe flintlock kiton their website. Be worth a call, I guess, to see if they've really got it or if they just haven't updated their website in a long time. Both Thunder Ridge and the Possibles Shop are showing variants that Traditions doesn't list.

You know i was just thinking. Why not a Lyman Great Plains rifle kit? Buy a couple books on what the original Hawken Bros. Plains rifles looked like, get some files and go to work. Midsouth sells them for $300+ s/h. IMO that would look better hanging on the wall. I know this because i own both rifles
