FG,
I'm not fond of powerbelts, but love a new gizmo justas much as anyone.

What's your take or has anyone any feedback on the powerbelt platinums? Other than being more expensive?

Havent shot them yet but i very much plan on trying some out soon. They are supposed to have a harder coating and a better base. Ive seen pictures and posts of elk taken with the 338 plat and it did agood job on the elk and dropped it within 30 yards. The Platinums are only a few bucks more, But if they do a better job, its worth it. I plan on trying the 300 grain plats in my .45 and see how they do.

I want my bullet to expand and exit, go thru bones if thats the only shot given! I want bullet intact, no jacket and core separation! Have had to cull a well known 240 Hp, after my last deer harvest. First time i used them on game and it didn't do what i wanted, the range was around 40-45 yds.[]

You know, although I am a huge fan of the Hornady SST in both 250 and 300 grain flavors...

I have shot and effectively harvested dozens of deer and other game with the 240gr Hornady HP clothed in the green sabot.

Same thing goes for the lowly and often picked on patched roundball, dozens of deer harvested. In fact, I've shot more deer with a PRB thaneverything else combined.

I believe that shot placement is everything, regardless of what your shooting. That said, a more destructive projectile will without a doubt be more effective when the shot placement is less than ideal.

Yep, that is what I said earlier in this thread.

#1 is shot placement

#2 is penetration

#3 is expansion

#4 is shoot thru. If the shot is well placed, anything will kill. Chap
