Ok they call it the decocking safety. I like how is automaticlly changes from safe to fire if you cock the hammer.

It doesn't do that. You are confusing the transfer bar with the safety - safety stays where you put it.

I don't have another Knight here to compare finishes, but the finish on the KP1 barrel is essentially identical to my Whites. It's a bead-blasted matte.

So you can cock the hammer but if you fired the gun it wouldn't fire since the decocking hammer is forward?

You have to cock the hammer AND make sure the hammer safety decocker is rearward? If that's the case I don't like that...

Nope, just leave the de-cocking safety - OFF - rearward. Simple as that, unless you want to use it for its intended purpose which is de-cocking on a live load. It isn't a big deal at all and you don't HAVE to use the safety to de-cock at any time.

Since it has a transfer bar safety seems kind of pointless to have a "decocking safety."

TC muzzleloaders, Ruger revolvers, etc all have transfer bar safties with out yet another safety to decock their firearms...

Seems over lawyered to me.

Maybe so, but Knight and White have both been big on double safeties.

One other item from the manual that I'll paraphrase... any attempt to lighten the trigger pull will invalidate the rifle's warranty.

I don't mine the double safety that is on the Knight extremes, etc... You never have to bother with it--just think that here it's kind of pointless. More so since there is a transfer bar safety already.

What White do you have. The White website could stand some updating. I asked for one of catalogs from their site but was for a 2003 catalog?

White is effectively out of business - I would NOT order anything from that website. I have four Whites at the moment. Model 98 Elite Hunter in .451 with factory altered synthetic stock from a Super 91, Ultra Mag .504, 97 Whitetail .451in an Ultra Magsynthetic stock, and a regular 97 Whitetail in .504 with laminated stock. I will probably sell the last one - it's unfired and I probably won't need to use it. But I'm keeping those other three!!

Be careful when you start talking about selling a NIB unfired White. The feeding frenzy is a horrible thing to see.. And Cascadedad then has to figure out ways of sneaking another one past his wife, and Sabotloader just does it and takes the grief...
