Im fairly new to muzzeloading and recently purchased a TC omega. I was wondering if anyone had and advice on a good sabot and load to start out with. I know all muzzeloaders will shoot diffrent but i was looking for a good place start. Any advice would be much appreciated.

100 grains of Triple Se7en 2f and a 250 grain Shockwave. That should get you shooting good. Once you get a load all worked up.. and one to fall back on, then you can experiment with other projectiles.

The Omega likes to be pushed a little hard and from my limited experience I have found that it might take a max load to get your best accuracy. After trying the Triple 7 load and 250 grain T/C Shockwave get some Pyrodex pellets and try 150 grains (3x50 pellets), 250 grain shockwaves, and see if they don’t group pretty good for you. Another thing that can make a difference in your accuracy is the primers…I changed from the 209 primers to using small rifle primers and my grouping at 100 yards shrank by half. Just something to think about…

My Omega is scary accurate at 150grain pyrodex with a 250grain Hornady SST-ML.

The recoil is comfortable for me... a bit heavy, but easily tolerable.... after 20 rounds on the range my shoulder gets a bit tender... it's a lot more gentle on me than my 300mag, 7mm mag and 30-06.

Yes. I have an Omega for 5 years and I shoot a Nosler Partition Protected Point HG 300g in it, these are bulk bullets in boxes of 50. You can buy 20 the 250g in a Nosler Package with Jim Shockey's picture on it. The HG stands for Hand Gun, opens up at lower velocity than .458 Nosler Rifle bullets. I shoot 100g of 777 LOOSE in it. With a Crushed Rib sabot and a Winchester or Federal primer. Buy loose powder, it is easier to ignite, less costly and you can shoot 90 or 110 grains. You can also try Barnes Expander MZ 300g in the rifle. Both are excellent bullets, stronger than you need. Find abullet for accuracy first. Wal-Mart has 777 and Pyrodex on sale, some folks get better performce from Pyrodex, my brother uses 3 pellets of it in his TC Encore.

Thanks for all your advice i picked up a jug of 777 and some 250 grain shockwaves at wally world and am going to give that a try. A buddy of mine swears by the powerbelts has any one had much success with those? How does the 777 shoot compared to the pyrodex? My old man swears by the 777 but i dont think he has gave the pyrodex much of a chance. thanks for everything!!
