Go to Wal-Mart and look for Slick50 ONE grease in the automotive section. Works great.

Do a search here also for Sabotloader's taping method.

On the cleaning thread - you may want to try this stuff called Vortex. It's a liquid you pour down the bore, wait a couple of minutes and pour it back into the container. Totally reusable. My friend picked up a Renegade at a yard sale that the bore looked shot with a bore scope. He waited twice the time before spilling it out and the bore looked like a mirror finish. Good product that really works. No brush,no mess,no fuss.

RE: Help I screwed up !

ORIGINAL: 7010r

Apparently I was not smart enough to clean the bore of my muzzle loader after last season . I have gotten it fairly clean now , but when I look through the bore in between the riflings , I can still see some residue that the patches are not getting to . Any ideas on a more thorough way to clean the bore , as in sprays or other cleaners . Am I over reacting ? I am using one of the T/c cleaning kits with patches , wire brush etc. Thank you
You can try some J-B bore cleaning compoundon a patch wrapped around a tight-fitting brass bore brush. Get it from Brownell's, and use it according to directions. Another approach would be to use some 0000-size or finer steel wool wrapped onto a bore-size brass brush soaked in a good bore solvent, but DON"T overdo it if you use steel wool! It is possible that a ML bore left uncleaned that long is S.O.L.
