Default LightField Sabot for M/L's

I was curious if anyone has tried the Lightfield Sabots for M/L’s? I did a search but only came back with results for shotgun slug guns. I went to there website
http://www.lightfieldslugs.com/lightfield/ecatalog/index.cfm?pageid=337&id=2&cfid=14793419&am p;cftoken=28445832

and these seem like a decent round to try in my opinion, read what it says about the sabots at there website above link. Seems interesting to say the least.

I spoke with one of them over the phone and Ron (his name I think) gave me all kinds of ballistic data and answered ant questions that I had. I think I may order some of these form there site since know one sells them here in Iowa that I know of.

From what Ron told me Lightfield is a private owned and operated company and he does all the Q/A for there products.

Lightfield seems to be a popular round for shotguns I am sure that some of you have heard of the company.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well since no one has seemed to have tried the light field Sabot and slug I ordered some for the M/L. I know they make excellent 12G deer slugs (ordered some of those to)

I will post when I have reached a verdict on the 300 G light fields.

Went to the range today and tried the 777 (2 50 pellets) and it worked well producing nice groups at 50 yards but so did the pyrodex pellets (2 50’s) Most of my shots were touching (.50 cal.)

I just happened to get onto T/C’s home page under the FAQ and noticed that 3 777 pellets can be used in the Omega even through 777 says it is not recommended. Not big on magnum load but nice to know it is still an option.

It will be interesting to see how they shoot for you. What were you shooting today out of the rifle for a projectile?

They would be interwsting to try on deer since they are pure lead with out a jacket they are sure to mushroom I would guess that they would take a rough ball shape when entering the body of a deer or shortly there after.
Lets us know how they shoot and if possable post some pics of the unfired bullet. Lee

Yep will do, they haven’t arrived yet but as soon as I get a chance to fire a few off I will post some pics.

They will more then likely arrive next week.

At the moment I am using 2 777 pellets and a shock wave 250 G bullet or a hornady 250 G SST. (Same thing as most of you know) I have the black Sabots but have tried the yellow ones and they are both fine.

So far the S/W has been the best but still need to try the Hornady HP XTP.

Shot a really tight group yesterday at 50 yd’s all hit in the ten ring then I broke my Jag off in the ram rod so need get a new one before next time. Think I can drill a small hole into the stuck jag thread that is still in the ram rod and pull it out.

What would simulate a deer cavity to accurately compare this 300 G Lightfield? I read on another forum that wet newspaper compacted into a 5 gallon bucket turned on its side is decent. Maybe doing a 50 yd shot with 2 pellets may do the trick.

Anyone else have any other ideas let me know.

Those are repackaged precision rifle bullets.

I bought a small set of left hand turning drills from Harbor Freight and they work great for jobs like this. Usually before you get much drilled the broken part just comes back out with the drill once it has a good bite. Of course you have to have a reversing drill too.

I kind of figured and hoped that would happen with just the bit. It’s not in there tight just needs to be backed out. If it is stuck I think I can get a small screw to start in the pilot hole. That should do the trick.

Oh and the Light Fields came today going to try and shoot tomorrow.
