Gold Dot
I found the Gold dot that went through the buck chest and shoulder hit no bones was a couple inches in the ground. Going to try puting a pic on this one weight in at 110gr. Lee

Chap ,I just wish they did make a 200, its a 250 gr Gold Dot pushed by 100gr 777 out of my Triumph,shot at about 50 yds through the chest then the off shoulder of a 6 point it went about 2 inches in the ground and I went back out with the metal detector and looked for it. I have been trying all the bullets that shoot good in my guns the last few years. so far the 40 cals are by far the best for long range and do quite well up close to, but the Gold Dots
are also very good they tend to drop them on the spot and still exit,now thats one of the things I am looking for. Lee |

Say Lee, if you want to experiment a little, Speer does make210 grain Gold Dot in .410 diameter ($20.85 for a box of 100 at Midsouth). I use it in my .41 Mag Blackhawk.
Might try it myself. What sabot do you think would be most appropriate? |

The only problem there is there is no sabot to fit it. The 200 gr are the right length x cal = 1in 28 twist I think thats why they shoot so good, and their SD is just a bit better than a 300gr 45 cal with a BC of .269 this makes a very good preformer for long range it holds its energy well and you can grt the velocity up to 2200 with 110 of 777 or 23 with 150 RS but for under 100 yds off a stand the Gold Dots are awsome. I tried the 44 (.430) - 300 XTP's because of the stated (by Hornady) BC at .245 and SD of .21 in combination with the 300 grain weight. The Speer site shows the .452 - 300's at BC of .233 and SD of .21. Hornady show the 10MM-200's at BC of .199 with SD .179. Where did you find the Speer BC of .269 for the 300's? (I'm certain I've missed something here) |

the .245 BC Hornady are the .430 - 300's. Makes sense it would be higher than a 300 in .452, though I don't know it would be that much higher. The .233 BC belongs to the Speer gold Dot .452 300's on their site, not the Hornady 300's. |
