i cant get a pass through!!!!
 

i've shot a bunch of deer in the past three years wiht my omega but i'm having troubles gettin a pass through. i shoot 100 grainstriple7 with 295gr aerotip Powerbelt. iswitched to a aerotip from the hollowpoint cuzfriends told me it would help. but now i jus get a entry wound i can shove my FIST in!!! withoutan exit wound!the deer usually drop in like 30yds but its hard to get a blood trail. any suggestions?

You might try the 270 gr platinum bullet or 348 gr aerotip. Suppose to hang together better.

You might also try lowering the powder charge to 80-90 grains. You will probably get better penetration with a lower charge with powerbelt.

PowerBelts are known for this...You can go to a 348 PB or better yet, go to a
250 SST...Its a longer range bullet anyway...

Entry wound is the size of a fist and you cant get a blood trail???
If you want a pass through, you have to hit behind the shoulder in the lungs.

225 grain aerotip powerbelt, 80 grains t7. No pass through but a darn good blood trail.

Well it seems that no pass through could be blamed on the design of the bullet. I would suggest that if a pass through is that important, then change to a bullet that will pass through. Although if you're having good luck hitting and taking game with the load, it is kind of hard to leave a known preformer.

150gr powder and a 250gr Barnes Expander ought to do the job :D

This is typical of powerbelts, especally with a load that equal to about 120gr RS the recomended load is 70 to 90 gr RS.
If you really want consistant pass throughs try a 300gr Shock wave or 300gr Gold Dot or a 460 No excuses. Lee

+1. If you want Pass thru, then try a ShockWave Bonded or a regular SW or a Barnes.

Switch to 110 2f T7, 300 gr Nosler Partition, Win 209 Primerand you'll get the holes you want! This load shoots nicely in my Omega and is accurate out to 200 yds and still maintains over 1000 ft lbs energy at that range. Zero at 153 yds for a 6 inch kill zone and you're good to200 yds.
I shot this load over a chronograph at the muzzle and 100yds, so I know those numbers to be accurate and I suppose the math takes over from there cause I don't trust myself to shoot over the chrony at 200. lol:(

You may or may not get a pass through with a regular Shockwave/SST: Most of my shots on hogs and deer were not pass throughs.All except onewere bang flops or near bang flops. The sole exception was a buck that was hit low in the shoulders and required a finishing shot.
