RE: New to black powder, good gun for money
Welcome to the forum. CVA is the place to look for a NEW rifle that does not cost a lot. There are some auction sites where you can pick up some good deals. There are sales at some of the sites. A .50 caliber inline should do you just fine. Is there any style rifle that interests you? Also when you say limited funds.. just how limited are you talking. Perhaps a good used rifle might do you just as well. Check some of the classified adds.

check with local gun dealers, but look closely down the barrels. I got an knight american knight for $40. I did not know about the the pitting on the barrel until 2 days ago. I am lucky it shots great.
I did not know much about muzzleloaders until these fine people helped me out. |

I like a break-open action with an exposed hammer for safety & simplicity. Inexpensive, easy to disassemble & clean, and reliable.
I have a Traditions, but I'm sure CVA is an equal. If NEF used a 209 primer without the plastic carrier I'd buy one of them, but I hate the idea of having to fool with the plastic carriers. |
