From a previous post. (http://www.huntingnet.com//forum/tm.aspx?m=2350921)
Here it is UC, but it about drove me nuts.
I had the scope on my Mustang adjusted for"dead on" at 100 yards with 300 grain Speer Gold Dots at 1700 fps, so I knew I would have to readjust it to get the Great Plains bullets on paper.
I had a box of twenty 385 grain GPs on hand, so I filled ten powder vials with 90 grainsT-7 FFFG, five vials with 90 grains Pyrodex RS, and five with 90 grains Jim Shockey's Gold.
The plan was to use the first five of the T-7 loads to get on paper at 50 yards, and adjust the scope so the GPs were hitting 2' high there -which should put them pretty much near center at 100. So, I sighted in and got the last two of the "sight in"bullets excatly 2" above the bull at 50 yards. Those sight-in shotswere grouping so well that I expected really good groups at 100. Boy, was I wrong. Things went down hill from there.
Anyway, here arethe three 100 yard targets. What astounded me was how much the point of impact changed with different powders.
Underclocked - If you try that Great Plains again, humor me and weight sort the bullets and weigh the powder charges equivalent to90 grains by volume.

The first target was shot with T-7. I got a 5 & 1/2" group with the first four shotshigher than I expected and to the left of the bull. I adjusted the scope 2" right before firing the fifth shot.
Average velocity with T-7 = 1583 fps.

The nexttarget was fired with Pyrodex RS. The first shot was off the paper and showed a chronograph reading of only 871 fps. I had cleaned it well with very wet patches and probably left some moisture around the breech plug. Got a 4" group with the other four shots (yes #4 & #5 are in just about the same hole).
Average velocity with Pyrodex (excluding shot #1) = 1144 fps.

Final target was with Jim Shockey's Gold - which I hadn't used before this range session. Velocities were low but, HOLY COW, gotta' try this powder some more.
Average velocity with JSG = 1018 fps.

WOW!
JSG 2Fg is realy getting it done!!
Your Actual Wieght(AW) measurment is exactly what I get with all APP Products.
.92 x 90g By Volume = 82.8 AW

That Jim Shockey Gold is doing some pretty impressive shooting there. With a group like that at 100 yards, you might almost want to rethink your load and maybe what you shoot out of the rifle. I would sure be retesting and see if I could do it again...

You can bet I will Cauygad. In fact, after I shot the GP Experiment, I went back to camp (50 yards from the rifle range) and filled five power vials with 100 grains by volume of JSG to try with my "go to" bullet - the Speer 300 grain Gold Dot. I shot those five at 50 yards.
I would have shot more at 100 yards and with110 & 120 grains, butwas running out of time because I wanted to get home for dinner with the family and the grandkids were visiting.
Anyway, here's that one target. Looks promising. JSG is the cleanest powder I've ever shot.

Didn't get the results I expected but that JSG has to be a pleasant surprise! It would be interesting also to see what would happen if you adjusted the T7 charges to yield similar velocity to what you obtained with the JSG. It could be the more energetic powder is causing a loss of seal...and reducing charge to obtain similar speed might get similar accuracy.
But it's hard to argue with the JSGaccuracy results. Thanks for running the test!
