Default Variflame adapters and 25acp?

Anyone tried these?

2nd question-With the 25 acp breech plug, do you have to put the primer in the 25 acp casing then load the casing in the breech plug? Just not familiar with it....

I use the adapters in both my 209x45 Encore and my 209x50 Omega love them and have not had any problems with them . with the 25 acps you do have to load the primers in the cases .

Are you seeing a reduction in the crud ring with the variflame?

Is loading those small primers in the 209 case a pain?

With the right tool it is a piece of cake

Now this is just my opinion - but the 25acp system is much better and more complete system than the vari-flame. The vari-flame was developed for those guns that a 25acp breech plug was not available.

If you shoot a lot the 25 system will be much easier to manipulate if you are an occasional shooter the vari-flame will serve the purpose...

The 25 system is more expensive...

If you would like more information let me know there is a bunch out there....

How are you loading the primers in the 25acp cases and do factory cases work? What I am wondering is do I need the stuff that reloaders need?

I use a lee loader hand primer tool - think Hornady makes one also...

and do factory cases work?
Factory case will work but they do vary in length so you might have to cut them a bit to optimum length.

What I am wondering is do I need the stuff that reloaders need?
Very little of that stuff....

I punch the used primers out with a simple punch...

Precision Rifle has everything you need - it is a bit expensive but in my little world it is well worth it. If you shoot a lot I would also order the extra 50 pack of 25's - I believe Precision has lengthened all the cases to the proper length.

The 25acp conversion works great in my Omega. I also have the veri flame but they are hard to keep from loosing, especiallywhen target shooting ( they are the same size as a 209 ). The 25s are also much cleaner in the breach area. I made my own 25acp breach plug using an extra breach plug I had on hand, a drill press and a no. J drill bit. You can buy the lee auto prime and a 25acp shell holder for in the $15 range and a bag of 100 25acp brass for less than $11.00 ( at Midway ). You will have to go to a store that sells (because of the $20 has-mat fee) reloading supplies for the primers, for about $3. I set the depth of the hole, in the breech plug, so that my Omega closes a little harder than with 209, and havent had any trouble with factory length brass ( get a good deep dent in the primer).

Right now the 25 acp sounds like a bit much for me to mess with.

Mayguy-Did you see an improvement in the crud ring with the variflame, enough to make the switch from 209's?

The crud ring is way down and the reloading of the adapters is not bad , all you need is a table and a small rubber hammer . They come in a kit that has all that you will need but the table and hammer .
