Default Range Report-45 Disc Elite

Well I got out this morning with the 45cal Disc Elite and theProChrono and got some numbers for Trip7 2Fg 80grains Actual Wieght/ 100grains By Volume, Pinnacle 3Fg, APP 2Fg, APP 3Fg, and Shockey's Gold 3Fg-ALL these used same load-exactly 92grains Actual Wieght/ 100grains By Volume. These By Volume wieghts determined by a CVA brass measure, tapped until I could'nt get any more in it, and Actual Wieght determined by my RCBS 502 Balance Beam Scales All shooting done @25yards.

Weather was 70deg, Humidity bout 80%, Wind at my back bout 8 MPH, partly cloudy.

Had some strange readings first thing, shooting 200g 10m/40 cal XTP in Harvester Crush Rib(HCB)[&:] So I swapped batteries and tried again! And got the same results

Shockey's 3FG 100grains by vol(BV), 92grains by Actual Wieght(AW)
Average(12 shots)-2434fps

Well that still shocked me, cause I really did'nt expect that kinda speed. So I switched bullets. I then started using 275 HP/PowerBelts with the same 100grain loads as above:

APP 2Fg avg- 1966
Shocky's avg- 1952
Pinnacle avg-1937
APP 3Fg avg- 1946
Trip7 2Fg avg- 1724

OK, so then I did some 200grain 10mm/40calXTP's in the HCR sabots, with70grain by Volume measurements. APP products all wieghed in at 65grains Actual Wieght, with Trip7 at 56grains AW.

APP 2Fg avg- 1993
Shocky's avg- 1981
Trip7 2Fg avg- 1870
Pinnacle avg-Duh...Forgot to load up the Pinnacle tubes[:@][&:]
APP 3Fg avg- 1685

Well that's pretty much all the time I had this morning!

Sombody chime in here and let me know what cha tink

Those are some very interesting results. You really had the bullet moving there. What kind of accuracy were you getting with them loads?

I have the same chrono and I shoot the 10mm 200 grain XTP with 100 grains of T7-2f @ 2000 fps and that is the average from the Omega and the Remingtons from the WhiteI shoot 110 grains of T7-2f (2150fps ave)- but I do use a MMP HPH 40/50 Blue sabot.

Well I only did some grouping shots at 50 yards, to make sure the loads were stable with no bullets sriking sideways Got 1.5" with both loads.

Thanks sabotloader

Idunno, just can't make sense of that high velocity for the XTP. I'm gonna look for some old stats I did last year and see if these are even close. Hope my Chrono is'nt taking a dive[&:]

I do not know but those pro-chronos are pretty good chronos...

Here is a target shot from my A&H with several velocities...

OK

Found some of my First stats I did with the Prochrono from 30Sep06:

Got out to the range with my new chronograph and recorded stats on loose Pinnacle powder 150grains and 120grains. Using CCI primers and the PowerStem breech plug. All recordings are @ 10 feet from the muzzle.

150/120 grains with 40cal Tan MMP sabot:
200grain ShockWave- 2232/2073
195g QT PR Bullet - 2287/2130
175g RedHot - 2453/2290
225g LBT PR Bullet - 2190/2033
200g XTP 10mil - 2290/2129

36cal 70g Hornady RB in PR Bullet 45/357cal sabot--2842/2680
36cal 70g Hornady RB in PR Bullet 45/357cal sabot with 2 Round Balls and 150g Pinnacle--2306

Harvester Crushed Rib Sabots:
I found out the Harvester Crushed Rib 45cal Sabots only last about 2 shots per above 40cal bullets. And really accurate for the FIRST shot on a clean barrel. After that they foul the rifling with plastic residue and go all-haywire! But that first shot was just about dead center at 85 yards for the Shockwave, QT, XTP 10mil, and the LBT
However, the 200g XTP 10mil bullets loved them, and I could get about 5 shots off with out swabbing. Held a 2inch group at 85 yards. With the first shot with a clean barrel, dead center every time!
PS
The exact weights of the powder are--150grains By Volume= 136grains by Actual Weight.
120grains BV= 110grains AW

Maybe the sabots are causing trouble out to 25yards????[&:]

Next Cool day...I'm going to re-do it again
