I'm having good feelings about buying Thomson Center's new Triumph Black Powder Rifle for 2007. Wall Mart is checking the price for me to order one. As soon as they can get it, I'll have a new 50 cal. Stainless barrelled Triumph with twist out breech plug. Have any of you guys seen these rifles yet and what have you heard about them? I haven't ever been a Thomson fan until now. I just like the way the rifle looks and feels. (I held one at a local gun shop yesterday) It's balanced very well and it's operation is really simple. I've always had Knight rifles, so maybe now I won't need them blame red disk any longer. LOL

its not stainless steel. its carbon steel with a "weathersheild" coating that looks like stainless steel.

Yes, I know, but some of the literiture is saying stainless steel. The weather shield should be just as good.

I'm real interested in that new Triumph too and may own one before long. Do yourself a favor and give the local gun shop guy a chance to sell it to you. He may come close or beat Walmarts price. And even if he's a few bucks higher, he'll probably be there for you if you have problems unlike Walmart.

I have been shooting one for about a month now, they are a super omega that you can clean in about 3 min. I would say they are pretty much as advertised. Lee

I have seen reports onhow well the new Triumph shoot. , While at the gun shop the other day getting some work done on a rifle, I finally got to handle one. I was really disappointed in the rifle. I did not like the feel of the forearm. I did not like the material they used in the stock. And I worked the action and when I tried to close it, I could not make it close and stay that way. I felt kind of foolish standing there with the rifle like that. The trigger pull was real good. And the hammer cocked just fine. But it really was not what I expected. It looked better in pictures. Although I am sure on the range it really shines.

Now there was a stainless Omega above that Triumph on the wall and it was really nice. It had a composite camo stock, stainless steel barrel, and it felt real good. The trigger on that Omega was also exceptional.

Cayquad,I guess thats why they make different models,I like the forarm better than my Omega and I like the way that locking system works its very positive but it takes a bit of getting used to. The only Thing about it I dont like is its preforance for light loads, all the loads that shoot really good groups are 110 gr or under; although I would prefer a laminated wood stock this one works well except for the fact that plastic is ugly compared to wood.
The Omega really shines when it comes to loads it has a couple of loads like the 50/40-200gr SW that will shoot a nice one hole group with 150 gr.Lee

I am sure that anyone including me could get used to the forearm on the Triumph. It just took me by surprise how plain jane the plastic looked. The pictures I saw of the Triumph made it look much better to me. Maybe looking at that Omega stock made the other look bad.

When I tried to close that action'trigger guard.. what is the trick to getting it to close and stay in the locked position. The one I was checking would not stay closed. I did like the breech plug. It looked easy to take out. And the sights were nice, but nothing special. My Black Diamond XR has the same fiber optics.

You might also want to check the price of a replacement breech plug. [:-] Breech plugs need replacing on occasion and you may go into shock when that time comes.
