Default shelf life of clean shot???

Digging through my cabinets last night and found 2# of Clean shot. It would be at least 5 or 6 years old, but is in the sealed factory containers.
Would it be safe to try it and see if it as still good? I'd probably try it in a 12ga smoothbore with a light load if I do try it out.

If it doesn't smell funky, shoot it. Last fall I shot the last two inches from a can of 3F Goex that had to be 15 years old. It shot just fine.

If it is still sealed I am sure it will shoot well. Although Clean Shot was stored at my house for five years after it was opened and it still shot well. You got nothing to loose by trying to shoot it. Go for it.

As I remember it wasn't the best choice for accuracy, but I may burn it up in one of my smoothbores with a load of shot in front of it. At least the powders that don't provide good consistancy don't have to be thrown away.

Actually it shot roundball real well. I had about three pounds of it for a long time, and shot roundball on and off for years with it.
