RE: Fouling a bore
I clean...
With my inlines, 3 patches dampened with rubbing alcohol and a squirt of Murphy's Oil Soap, a couple of dry patches, then I oil the bore and finally run another dry patch through...And yes, I even do this when hunting, I am not concerned about fast a 2nd shot...Maybe I'm lucky, but I get good accuracy by doing this.. With my flintlocks, when sighting in or competition I clean but don't bother with oiling as my patch wrapped around the ball lubes the bore...When hunting with my .54 flinter, the first ball is wrapped with a .018 patch..I don't have to clean between shots because I can then use a .015 patch and get good hunting accuracy....When squirrel hunting with my .40 I clean every 3rd shot... |
RE: Fouling a bore
Using JSG, my Encore shoots the first and subsequent bullets to the same point of aim. Not so with 777: The first shot from a clean bore will be spot on. Subsequent shots with a dirty bore are all over the place.
