This is an awesome thread for anyone new to muzzleloading. I'm relatively new, and this is a big help. Thanks a bunch!

Cayugad provided a wealth of info that I can't improve on. Where I can add is what to shoot. I have the same ML and I use 85 gr. of pyrodex and make my own projectiles. I use a Lee mold with soft pipe lead to cast 300 gr. minni's. I also use the same projectiles out of my Traditions Deerhunter. They have worked great for years and I have taken many deer with them. I was just out shooting on Sunday and had 3 in. groups at 75 yards. I was really excited with one set of 3 where the group was only 1 in. with 2 of the holes overlapping. That doesn't happen all the time so it was cool to see. I have a 4x scope on the ML and my zero is 75 yards. I have taken deer farther but the vast majority of the deer taken with my ML has been within the 75 yards.

I'm Robb's buddy that is buying the same gun and we have decided to go with the CVA optima Pro .50and so far all the tips we have gotten are excellent. Do you guys recommend and loads for these guns?
Someone told me that 2 Triple 7 pellets (100grain) and the power belt 270 grain shoots really well for 100yard shots. You guys think that sounds good?
