Just a question.. the target being paper, what was behind the paper? I use soda 12 pack cartons that I flatten and then tape the paper too. I have found that if there is nothing behind a paper target or the back is shot out, there is no telling what kind of hole you will get. I have had a simple conical in those cases literally tear a chunk out of the paper.. Just another thought is all.

The frames have 1/8 inch felt type of board inserts in them. Its not felt but a fairly thin board. you either staple or tape your target to these inserts. I really didnt pay attention whether the one I was using was shot up pretty good or not. I'll pay attention to that tomorrow. It maybe there wasn't any board behind the center of my target.

Going to be a hot mucky weekend here. Time to suck down plenty of water.

I had a shockwave once make a "perfect" sideway bullet shape in a paper target. I was shocked it had done that.
I guess that's why they call it a SHOCKwave, 'eh?
