WOW CHAP! that is some outstanding shooting there. You could shoot a long time again, and never shoot a group like that. That really says a lot of the load and the rifle. As well as the person behind the gun. Do you have any idea what the velocity is with that kind of a load? I know so little about smokeless muzzleloaders, but have to admit.. you got my attention...

I know exactly what you mean. I thought it was great when I shot about a 1" group at 50 yards, I never expected to do that at nearly 100. I have never shot that good in my entire life, with any gun, ever.I don't ever think Iever shot a group, with all the holes touching until that day. I was shooting off sand bags and both the barrel and the stock resting on exactly the target at 100, just put my shoulder into the gun, sight, take the safe offand squeeze the trigger.

I don't really know what the load is shooting at, I will fire up that ballistic program and see if I can figure it out. I don't have a Chrongraph. I know Iweighed my loads to EXACTLY 44g, and I would even put 1 grain of powder onto the pan to get the exact level. The nice thing about the EZ loaders I havefrom RMC they are smaller than bore and flexable, so I can fold the speed loader over and not spill 1 grain. I think that honestly was a factor also, to not spill even 1 grain of powder. Also it was early in the AM and I was not tired. All were factors. I did everythingthe same also.I think the biggest factor is thesabot, in the first 5 shots with the Hornardy, they use a thinner sabot, it goes down easy, but goods "good", not excellent, but good. The TC ShockWave Sabot is very tight, it shoot EXCEPTIONAL, and what is interesting, I believe these were only $8 or $9 for 30. I have NOT bought any in a long long time, so they could have doubled by now, since all bullets seem to be increasing due to the demand for lead for the war. Any way thank you. chap, N110 is $80 for 2 lbs up here. All the other powders come in 1lb version$25-$28/lb. I bought 5lbs of 4759 for less then 100 bills last year. I still have 4lbs or so of it left as i shot up the singles first. FWIW I had 2 different lots (tin(old) and plastic (new) including the 5lb jug) and they are as close as any lot change i have experienced with powders as a reloader. I may have got lucky but fine for awhile in terms of 4759:).

As far as the speed of the 44gr/250 sst/sw load I'd guess 21 - 22Kbasedon what I have seenpublished.

Yeah Cecil owns PR Bullet. His prices are better then anything I have found and they work fine in my 10II, as well as others I shoot with, I order the .033 ventliners.

Chap, sorry I forgot to answer your question what is MC#7 prior. It is the Shooter Choice Solvent/formula (Shooter Choice MC#7) I use for cleaning the bore in all myguns. Ilike it for the muzzy as it works onplastic fouling from sabot usage as well as the usual culprits.

Thanks for the tip on Ventliners, I will save a Link to their web site and not order any for a while, since Redclub said I could order them from Savage and I did that the same day. Powder around he is about $20 per 1 lb plastic jug. I think your right on the 2100 or 2200 fps on the 250g.
I think I will buy a lb of 4759 and see how I like it. $5 lbs is a lot for just me shooting. Chap

had an opportunity to shoot this AM. I shot Barnes bullets. Here are the results using AA 5744, 44g, Federal Primer, no swabing between shots:

Knight Ultimate Slam 285g (made by Barnes) supplied sabot


Both bullets loaded fairly easy. The TMZ was the more accurate of the two, with about a 2" group. The Knight Ultimate Slam had about a 3" group. I will work the load for the TMZ. I am also goign to Order some Harvester Scorpions PT 300g and some
TC SW with the Super Glide Sabot, since the SW shot so good for me before. I hope they are bonded, only $9 for 15 so I am not out a lot if they are not.
