Well, scrap the Apex from cabelas off the list. They sold out of them again. Suckers sell like hot cakes.

One more cva that would be a great product is the cva optima ELITE. you can change from a muzzleloader barrel, shotgun to a centerfire rifle barrel. Low $300 range and barrels sell for $150-175 depending on what you want.

but between the kodiak and wolf, i'd spend the 40-50$ more and buy the cva optima with the longer barrel.

I can speak for the regular Optima. Easy to clean with break action. The receiver is the same as the Optima Pro and works with the shotgun barrel as well. I bought my Optima for around $270 nickel barrel with camo stock.

I appreciate all of your replys and info,but i just asked about the wolf or the kodiak.The funds are not availble to purchase a high dollar muzzleloader and im not even sure im going to like hunting with a muzzleloader.So i want to put as little amount of money i can into a muzzleloader but still have a descent shooting one.The farthest i would shoot is 100yds at most.

Go with the Wolf, heres a picture of my 50yd target using 245gr Powerbelt and 2 50gr Pyrodex pellets. I'm still playing with loads but you get the idea. Last 6 shot arethemiddle group.

Yeah go with the wolf then.

wannaBelkhuntin - welcome to the forum, its good to have you here. As for the CVA bargin basement, I have found better prices at many of the online stores then they offer. But every once in a while they will have a cheap on there. Check MidSouth, D&R Sports, and Natchez, especially their sales.

Why not just buy a nice used muzzleloader then. You can get a good used bolt action CVA for$100 or less. They shoot about as well as any muzzleloader out there. Killed a lot of deer and hogs with mine before i finally bought an Encore.

The Buckhorn is not the most fancy rifle but it is like my Staghorn. It would probably be a good shooter. It is different then the older style in that it has a double locking lug system to add more stability to the rifle and stock. While the stock to fit is not the greatest as some of my other rifles, my Staghorn will shoot with the best of them. Load 90 grains of powder and a XTP or powerbelt and it is a 100 yard rifle.

The other CVA's are also well priced there. Hope this helped.

For a couple of years the Staghorn was my only M/L.Killed several deer and a lot of hogs with it. Still hunt with it once in awhile. Have confidence that it will go bang when i want it to and that the bullet will go precisely where i want it to go. Can'task for morethan that.
