FG,
Never heard of them! Since you said it was rebrowned then I assume it is a trad rifle. More details would be interesting!!!
Thanks SHills

Most Mowery rifles were under hammer types. Is the company still in business-they were in the late 1970s.

No its not an underhammer, its a sidelock but i think with a internal lock built into the frame. i will try to get some pics.

This is a .54 mowrey muzzleloader. not the actual one im thinking about buying.

I be interested in it if you pass on it.
they were made in texas all have rb barrels looks like the one in the picture has a steal frame not brass and if the barrel has no rust or pitts it a good deal, they also came with a nice walnut stock

Interesting gun.... I don't like the way the stock curves down. It seems like a pointless addition.

Actually it reminds me a lot of todays break open inlines like the elite pro, wolf, encore and the optima. Only the inlines have a higher built cheek piece. The guy said it will hold 3" groups at 75 yards with PRB, but im sure it will do a lot better in the right hands. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have two of these with the brass reciever. One is a 54cal, and the other is a 36cal.
Both have brass funiture and what appears to be curlly maple stock and fore arm.
They both shoot very well with round balls. I have not tried conical as they are both 1:66 twist.
I have only seen one other Mowery, and that was at a gun show. It had a metal fore arm. The dealer wanted $450.00 for it but I was not interested in the looks of it so I left it with him.
