Big Conicals
I am a new poster, but have been lurking here since October.
I have learned a lot. Thanks to all of you.
I have been reading on here about big conicals. Where
do you find "bullshops"? I also hear about "NEs"? Are they
the same? I can't find them either. I have found the "Maxi
Hunters". I shoot an Austin & Halleck 420.

I dont have bullshops web address, but I do have No Excuses, the NEs,http://members.aol.com/noexcusesb/page3.html.
I just recently ordered the .50 cal 460 gr. from him- you just e-mail hi and he sends them. When you recieve the package you mail him your payment, kindof like e-bay.
I have yet to shoot them yet but am anxious because of the other reccomendations.

http://bullshop.gunloads.com/prices.html BullShop Conicals
http://members.aol.com/noexcusesb/page2.html No Excuse Concials
check your bore and try to get some idea of the diameter. The No Excuses Conicals are a .503 diameter. The BullShop conicals can be ordered to any diameter you like. My Knight likes the .503 conical. My Green Mountain likes the .504 and my White likes the .504 conicals. They come in different weights as well.
Hope this is what you wanted to know.

RE: Big Conicals
Since you can order any size conical from bull shop has anyone ordered them small and shot them in a sabot shooter? Kind of like making your own slip fit mler. And if so how did they do?
Sabot shooter like the apex or kodiak or simillaar.

RE: Big Conicals
That's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks guys.
I am not sure I know how to measure my bore. Do I need a certain
measuring device? I do know that a 45 cal. bullet in a MMP HPH12
is a pretty tight fit. I wonder if I wouldn't be better trying .503?
I've been reading Sabotloader (conicalloader) and have been impressed
with his early results. I am not sure I am ready to start messing with
cornmeal yet, so what should I put over the powder and under the
bullet? And if you wouldn't mind, a link where to get them? Also, the
NE website says you can put the 385 gr. 45 cal. in a sabot. Has anyone
tried that? Or, like Savagescout asked, has anyone had Bullshop make
them a bullet to put into a sabot? Also, and I appoligize for all the
questions, but what and how much lube do you guys put on your bullets?
Thanks,
Tim

RE: Big Conicals
White also makes a "slip fit" bullet for .500 bore rifles as well as the ones they make for the White rifles. I just ordered some and have not had time to shoot them yet. White is not doing much with rifles at this time but they do have a large supply of bullets etc. www.whiterifles.com

Order the Bullshop conicals and Dan will lube them for you.
Here are the wad cards I have been using per UC's recommendation. From TOTW, WAD-510A. UC keeps denying it, but I still think he gets a kickback on all the Bullshop bullets and these wad cards that we buy.

RE: Big Conicals
I have a 420 also, haven't shot it yet. Was suggested to me by a few guys to go with a .503" bullet(sabotloader mentioned if I recall that his 320 and his green mtn. barrel load the same and that measures .503" so hefigured good bet). Just ordered some 460gr bullets from Dan(bullshop)to try. Its also recommended to use wad between bullet and powder.
I'd sayideally one would want a bullet exactly bore size.

RE: Big Conicals
If you found a large .45 caliber conical that interested you, simply have them casted in .451-.452 and shoot them out of a sabot. I see no reason why it would not work. If this is your intent I would tell Dan not to lube them. Then you can pick the sabot of your choice and shoot away. I do shoot a 423 grain .458 but not from Dan. I cast them myself. They shoot real well.
