Go with the 54cal. You will not regret it. I now have a 54cal percussion TC renegade and a 54cal flinter Lyman Great Plains rifle with the roundball twist. The 54cal Hornady Great Plains is awesome. I would get a percussion to start with. I use Goex all the way!

What is a GPH and GPR barrel like meyioned in the last post? I am somewhat new to some of these terms.

GPH = Lyman Great Plains Hunter with a 1:32 twist
GPR = Lyman Great Plains Rifle with a 1:60 twist
