What distance were you shooting and did it group well? What shot size were you using? The smoke is amazing with this gun when it goes boom on a non-windy day. You are really hooked now, this is the best blackpowder shotgun you can get as far as i'm concerned. Good luck on the next bird thatwalks by.

RE: Anyone shooting Black Powder shotguns?

I have a doublebarrel shotgun that I built from a kit from Dixie Gun works several years ago. I bought it to use for spring turkey hunting. It's a 10 gage with out chokes although one barrel is improved. I tried alot of different loads to make it shoot the way I want for turkeys. Needless to say it took awhile. I use loose blackpowder with a heavy card over the powder without a cushion wad and 2 oz shot. Recoil is entence it kicks harder than my 45/70 Sharps Rifle but it's still fun to shoot. I never got into the new inline shotguns, just doesn't make any sense to me trying to make a blackpowder gun modern. Later SSettle

I would love to get a bouble barrel but man the price on these things is in the neighbor of 600 dollars at Cabelas. A 10 guage is impressive and I've heard of guys using it for geese which would be awesome.

The cost is way to much anymore I paid $395 for my kit about 10 years ago. The newer ones now come with screw-in chokes mine didn't. I'm building a 20 gauge flint smooth bore that I plan on turkey hunting with maybe in the fall if I get her done. I'd like to shoot one of the new inline types just to see what it wouldbe likebut I don't know anyone around here that has one. Can't see myself buying one, I don't have the room for another gun. Maybe I can talk my son into it..Later SSettle

I got pretty lucky with the Pedersoli double I got at Cabela's last year. The price was mismarked at $589. It was still a lot but a lot cheaper than what they want now. This gun is a ton of fun and I think I'll own it for a long time.
