5 hours at the range at 26-27 degrees but I am finally figuring my rifle out. A good and I mean good swabbing between shots seems to help. Ironicly it seems the Pyrodex RS/ cheap Traditions bullet/sabot comboshoots better than the triple 7 and PowerBelt combo, I think. I will head back to the range tomorrow as I couldn't handle any more, as of 6:30 all my toes were numb and I couldn't see the 100 yard target any longer. Went to the 50 and was geting quarter sized groups with 100 grns. of Pyrodex RS and Traditions 240 grn XTP Hunter. 100 grns. T7 with 240 grn PowerBelt were inconsistant at 100 yards but still would feel confident shooting a pig at that distance.

Well 240 gr XTP's are a good load. I talk to a person in PA that hunts with them all the time using only 85 grains of powder and does not loose deer after shooting them. He said they really do a number. Although recently he went to the 300 grain just to see how they would do.
Good luck with your shooting and wear warmer boots. Nothing I hate worse then cold toes..

Sounds like you need some of these.

I don't have any, yet, but have thought about getting some when in similar situations.
Glad to hear your getting some things worked out. Half the fun of a smokepole is all the extra excuses you get to use to go shooting, like I've almost got the right load and I need to just tweek it some more, or, I need to check out this new bullet I want to try on my next hunt. Of course you can just say it's fun and ask if she wants to go along. Then there's my favorite, I'll take the kids so they can spend some quality time with dad.
Good luck on working up a load.

what kind of primers are you using? If you've been reading any of my posts about the primer issues ive been having, maybe you can change your primer to the CCI 209 and give that a try. Also, if you rifle is equipped with plastic sights, you're going to lose accuracy there, as i found out with my rifle. Try picking up box of cci primers, they are the brass 209 shotgun primers with a red paper like filling covering the hole.
