Underclocked

Where does the old MDM Buckwacka fit into this picture - I always thought it was around first - then the NEF and then the Encore and finally the Optima...

I always thought the original design came from the MDM. To me these newer gunslook like the Buckwacka....

I changed my mind after buying my new Omega. Quality is the difference. However, if your CVA shoots great then keep it. I couldn't get accuarcy out of mine.

No, the Huntsman has been around since the early 70s. It's actually the oldest production inline so far as I am aware. Considerable changes have taken place and a few people killed during its evolution.

I remember briefly considering a Huntsman in 1972 while checking out guns at the Kittery Trading Post. The TC Hawken I owned didn't shoot very well, but I was determined to find a Hawken that would - so the Huntsman remained in the rack.

The info below was paraphrasedfrom informationpostedat http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/printthread.php?t=12937.

~"H&R Huntsman muzzle loaderwas marketed originally as a model 156. They were manufacturedfrom 1972to 1979. The model 156 was offered in a smooth bore 12 gauge as well as 45 and 58 caliber rifled barrels.

First year production had a screw in breech plug. This breech plug had problems so H&R changed to a press fit breech plug sealed only by an o-ring... which also had problems.

H&R used the same action for their single barrel shotguns and single shot rifles. the 156internal parts (except for the firing pin) would be the same as the model 158 single barrel shotgun."~
