RE: Muzzleloader, how long have you....

Started in the 1960 with a .32 caliber rifle made by some guy in easternTN in the early 1900s. Killed a lot of small game with it. Traded it to a friend who still uses it.Returned to muzzleloading in the mid 1970s in southern MD. Then got away from it again.

i bought a CVA Staghorn in 1999.It is very accurate. Alsoown a CVA Mag. Hunter and an Encore. i seldom use the Mag. Hunter. It isaccurate with heavy loads of Pyrodexand 300 grain XTP bullets.Bought the Encore Labor Day weekend and have already killed two deer and two hogs with it.

i bought my first muzzleloader 4 years ago when i was 16. (man seems longer then that..maybe 5yrs ago i was 15..) but i bought it used in good condition..its an older model TC 50 caliber hawken. gun never gave me any troubles and shoots good....but i have a gun addiction problem...more will come...just kinda tough in college and such right now...

my next gun is a custon 62 or 75 cal smooth bore flinter. mainly want it for the shotgun factor...i think spring gobbler hunting with a flinter would be AWESOME..and also ill shoot squirrels and maybe upland game and rabbits...plus i can stuff a GIANT roundball down the barrel...if its accurate enough i may even hunt deer or bigger game with it..

plus many more to follow im sure

In the early 90's a friend gave me a TC Hawken that may have been given to him. No one could get it to shoot very well. I finally discovered it would shoot a ball ette fairly well out to about 80 yards. Great trigger and sights but I imagine that barrel is bad news. Don't have the heart to send it in for warrantee.

Bought one of those Knight Disc Elite's that Sportmans Guide was clearancing out last year. Love it. Put a Simmons Whitetail Classic scope from Cabela bargain cave I picked up on a trip a few years ago on it. Now that the season is over, and it filled the freezer, I think I'll save my glasses and move that scope a little more forwards!!!

I have 5 or 6 long guns and have been shooting them for 20 years or so. My "Go-To" gun is still the first one I purchased for hunting, a TC WMC, light and accurate as far as I can see, and that is getting shorter every year...LOL...

Got my first mz in the late 70's. A 45 Ky longrifle that I shot a little at targets because I didn't really think a mz was a serious gun for hunting. Then, in the early 80's, I decided to give the little gun a try at deer hunting. I spotted a 6 pt standing amongst some mesquite, so I took a rest, aimed and shot. I figured I missed cause I didn't see the buck once the smoke cleared but I reloaded and went to check for blood. Low and behold, there he lay in his tracks! Almost 90 yrd shot dropped him. I was awed, thrilled and hooked on blackpowder.
Now, I've got 3 sidehammer percussion rifles, 1 flintlock rifle, a double shotgun, a single shotgun, 2 single shot pistols, 3 C&B revolvers, and a Ruger inline!
The little 45 Ky was stripped down and beautified and sits in my gun cabinet as a reminder and heirloom. I replaced it with a T/C 50 cal that I have killed deer with ever since (20+ yrs), and I don't expect to replace it anytime soon.

I own 3...A custom .40 calber flinter, built by Bob Watts that I bought when I lived in Atlanta in 1977...A .54 caliber flinter that I built and finished in 1990...And a Knight Disc that I bought in 1999, on sale at Bass Pro...Funny, I killed 2 does with the .54 this year, never loaded the Knight...

My two are a 54 cal T/C Renegade Hunter bought in 1989 and a 50 cal T/C White Mtn Carbine bought in 1991 or so.

The Renegade earned the nickname Terminator. It's accounted for a good number of deer. The WMC was bought for the wife, but she hasn't hunted for quite a while.

I'm tempted to try an in-line some day. A scoped would help my eyes a bit.
