Hello. I just recently purchased a CVA 50 Cal Optima. I am using Thompson/Center Shockwave Sabots. When i put the sabot at the top of the barrel i am having a heck of a time getting it down the barrel using my ramrod. Am i doing something wrong here or is there another attachment that needs to go on my ramrod? Thanks for any help!!

first off, welcome to the forum. To answer your question, are you using a short starter to set the projectile down into the barrel? I like to use a T-short starter as they ends are made to help hard loading sabots also. Then get the right loading jag to match the projectile. In your case two shockwave loading jags. Put on on your ramrod and one on your short starter and you should be in business.

After you set the projectile in the muzzle, with the right loading jag attached to this T-handle short starter, you can push the projectile down into the barrel. Then the ramrod is used to finish the job. Trying to load with just the ramrod can be hard to impossible with some projectiles.

there are a lot of companies that make them. You can buy them on line at most muzzleloader stores. Wal Mart sells them as do many other places. Plus if your rod has two female ends, this can make your rod longer for cleaning easier.

MO Archer,I'm not sure what you mean by power handle? Is it a T handle that attaches to the end of the ram rod?

Just go here and look throught the list and see what you like. I dont use a ball starter thanks to powerbelts being easy to load but i do use one for my flintlock.
