Homemade swabing formula?
I tried an alcohol/vinigar mix to clean out the oily residue left by my no13 bore cleaner and I was left with a worse sticky film. I ended up scrubing fiercly with hoppes powder solvent to get it out. What would be a good recipe for getting oily residues out before loading. I know I've seen you guys talk about it on here but can't remeber what the mix was, I thought I was doing it right, maybe my ratios were wrong. If you wouldn't mind shareing your formula I 'd appreciate it.

I don't know anyone here who uses vinegar. There's only around 5-10% vinegar in the new Windex Multi-Task formula.
Get a small scent spray bottle from any auto-parts store - toss out the scent & fill 50-50 with Windex and alky.

I use Windex with vinegar mixed half and half with water for swabbing the bore between shots, cleaning thereceiver and breech plugand cleaning the bore.Sometimes you can see the crud fizz after spraying the solution on it. When swabbing the bore between shots do not wet the patch- just barely miosten it.
After getting the bore clean and dry I run a patch moistened with Militec thruit.
This is the stuff that Mike Venturino uses to clean all his black powder guns.
