Default first one!!! with the story now!!! sorry

This is my first deer with a muzzleloader. I had to track him for a while but ended up with him. The deer was taken this 21 OCT 06. This morning I was suppose to be a work serving my country but my superior was nice enough to cover for me on watch. Anyway I miss my alarm for 0500 and ended up getting to the stand very late. Here at the naval air station we do management hunt to keep deer from over crowding the runway, this deer is one of a 144 dnr set to meet a required quota. the story is I got in the stand about 0630 legal shooting time is about 0648 this deer was coming a across a huge power line about 0755 in the morning 60 yards away. the thing that make it interesting I had to be on watch at 0830. I shoot him he was quartering away, I hit him a little aft of the liver the bullet came out 2 inches behind the front shoulder. So went back to get help tracking him and along blood trail (which was a good one) we got up on the deer and the deerran again. Ended up tracking him 300 yards because we didn't give enough time. When I gotto the buckI was as cheezy as you see me in the picture. I was using CVA Optima with a Bushnell Dusk & Dawn Scope 100grains of triple seven pellets and Hornady Sabots 250 grain STS. Sorry for not having a story earlier but had to get back to watch after I recover the Buck!!!

Congratulations on the deer - how about a little more specifics. What kind of rifle, powder charge, projectile, distance, even a good story. We all like to hear a good story. And pictures are a real bonus.

Well that's a great story! Sounded like a lot of excitement going on there. That really is a nice deer. Especially for the first one you ever got with a muzzleloader. Now you have a mission. You haveto out do that one next time you get to hunt. It looks like your work is cut out for you, but judging from the expression on your face, I think you'll be more then ready. Also that looks like a lot of good eating to me..

Again, congratulations. The first one is always the best.. And it just gets better.
