I've used the standard Win 209, the standard Rem 209, the Rem Clean Bore, and a few CCI 209. Didn't seem to make a difference in my Magbolt or the Optima. If your talking about the WML209, I've heard it was discontinued for the 777 209. Not sure though.

My Encore has zippo blowback. But you better believe you'll be swabbing between shots. It does develop the "crud ring" and within a few shots. I consider swabbing the bore after each and every shot a necessary evil. I consider it part of the blackpowder discipline and something I must accept.

when it comes down to the question of ,will i be hunting with a clean gun or a dirty gun ,i would have to say it will be a clean gun.so the shot from a dead cold clean barrel is the shot that I'm concerned about. i will be doing some experimenting to find how well the gun shoots with a clean barrel which means cleaning between each shot. the first shot is the one that mater's.
in my last session of shooting using Remington's 209ml primer i never swabbed the barrel once and shot it 15 times.

My hunterbolt mag gets a lot of blowback with the .50 barrel and very little with the .45. I'm using W 209's and 100gr of 777, but the dreaded crud ring isn't much at all. I can feel it when I run a spit patch after each shot, but no sense of a deposit when I follow it with a dry patch.
Off the subject a bit, I found that my 260 platimums, Winchester that is, hit the same point of impact as my 250 grain Barnes MZ's with 100 grains of 777. 1-2 inch groups for both which will make practicing cheaper. I'm hoping they stay the same out to 200 yards, which will be sick.

moosekiller.. where are you finding them Winchester 260 platimums bullets? I shot some of them a long time ago and they were excellent. I returned to the store I had found them in to buy them out of stock, but they were sold out already and I never saw them since..

Perhaps discontinued?

I remember seeing them recently at a nearby hunting store. I remember the box have a dusty film and the price was around $20.

I think I found some!

But for some strange reason, this site is selling them in bulk. It appears as thou they want to sell you 6-30pks for $126.03. That breaks down to $21.00 for each 30-pk.

They must want you to buy a case of them. I think these Winchester are actually Nosler Partition. I had a pack of them a couple years ago and shot them out of the Black Diamond XR with 120 grains of Triple Se7en and the accuracy was just hard to believe. They really held true, even at long distances.

I just spent $80 today on other bullets, I think I will wait on that case of them. Thanks.. I wonder why my google did not bring them up???

I got them on-line from Midway. 30 with sabots for $19.49, and their in stock. I used the sabots that came with the bullets and no issues with loading ease. Maybe they areMMP's.

Better buy all they have if you like them. Nobody seems to be renewing their supplies of this bullet. Either discontinued or very little action at the cash register with these.

What we have here is a darn good bullet that gathers dust on shelves.
