What will you be hunting with this year?
 

What rifle(s) and load(s) will you be hunting with this year and what will you be hunting? I will be using my T/C 54cal Renegade on deer this year. My load will probably be 100gr Goex FFG, .530 roundball, and a .015 pre-lubed patch. If the weather gets really cold I might use some 310gr Ball-ets or some 425gr Hornady Great Plains so my patch doese not freeze to the bore. If I go elk hunting I will buy a 58cal GM barrel and load it with a 280gr Roundball using around 110-120gr Goex FFG if my barrel likes it.I know someone on another forum with that barrel who uses loads with 120gr FFG so I hope my barrel will like that to.

My .54 caliber Carolina flintlock...Loaded with 80grs FF, a .530 ball cast out of my Rapine mold and a .015 patch lubed with SnoSeal...Hunting whitetails here in NC...

Either my White M98 .451 cal with 460gn conical,fiber wad, and 80gn t7 2f or my White S91 .504 cal with 496gn conical, fiber wad, 85gn of t7 2f or my Savage 10MLII (still working up a load but hopefully it will be a 250gn class of bullet and sabot moving at 2300 or 2400 fps). I will be hunting deer and 'yotes.

If I have any tags left byOct 14 I will go after that big buck with my Omega and 50/40 -200gr been wanting to try that out but bow opens 2 weeks earlyer might not have any tags left.

Whitetail Deer in Texas, Thompson Center Encore 209x50, 250 or 300 gr Shockwaves with 100-135 gr. of 777.

I got a mule deer tag for now but august 8th i have to go down and do an in person left over draw and see if i can get a doe tag. Im taking my traditions kentucky .50 flintlock rifle and my winchester .50,x-150 inline incase weather turns bad or i cant get into range with the Kentucky.

It depends. Urban sprawl and all I will shoot traditional rifles where there is a chance of many hunters in the woods and use my inlines where safe misses could be hundreds of yards.

in Mi. this year .i mite not get to go out with theold front stuffer.
i could limit out in bow season. but if i do .an encore with 90gr. 777 250gr. Shock Wave

My 'ol reliable Knight Disc Extreme. If I can get a new scope for My Omega, I'll try to get one with it too. During our late season I'll use my Knight Hawkeye handgun. Not gonna use either .45.

right this second I would have to say.. deer hunting shoot a White .504 Ultra Mag with 70 grains of Triple Se7en 3f, 2 1/16th fiber wads, on top of all that a 500 grain .504 diameterBull Shop NEI conical. Them deer better pray they do not come with in 125 yard so me with the set up I have. I've practiced way too much with that rifle already.

The other rifle I really want to shoot a deer with is a .54 caliber Lyman Trade Rifle Flintlock with 90 grains of Goex 2f a moosemilk patched roundball using Goex 4f as a prime. If they come within 75 yards I have no doubt I will be eating venision...

I would like to shoot one with my smoothbore, then of course there is my new CVA Stalker Carbine. Or I might take my T/C Hawkins Flintlock .50 caliber with ball. And not to forget my Knight Disc, or the Wolverine... (just kidding..:D:D:D)

I'll be taking out my T/C Firestorm .50 cal. It will be loaded with 350 gr Maxi-Hunters pushed by 95 gr of Goex 2F and Goex 4F in the pan. It's done the job the last two years (2 for 2), so I'm hoping it will do it again [knock on wood].

My quarry will be whitetail, and for the first part of the season I'll
be take'n my Lyman Trade rifle "Rock Loc" .50 cal loaded with 85grs
Goex 3f, homemade lube, .018 pillow ticking and home casted .490 R/Bs.

Second part of the season if I haven't scored, I'll take ole faithful my T/C
Hawken .45 cal with 80grs of Pyrodex RS, a home casted 250grn R.E.A.L
bullet lubedwith T/C Maxi Lube. My shots will be less than 75 yards where
I hunt.

My son, will be shooting a CVA Eclipse in .45 cal with 70grs of 777fffg
and a 180grn T/C cheap shot sabot. I sure hope he scores, as this will
be his first deer if he does.

I may use my TC Firehawk in .54 cal. with a remington gold roundball and 100 grains APP. Havent killed a deer with this rifle with a roundball but I have with a 535 grain no excuses. If not, it I will use my new White M97 ultra mag with some large conical or white powerstar sabot 325 grain when I get a load worked up. Last but not least my old reliable TC renegade kit .50 cal. with 100 grains APP and a 495 gr. no excuses.

Reading the rest of the posts make Me think I may be loading My Omega 50 Cal a little heavy for deer. I load the Omega 50 Calwith 150 G loose Pyrodex and a 250 G Hornady SST. 3 inches hi at 100 yds and 8 inches low at 200 yds. Worked great on a nice 9 point last Year. I think I will try around 90 G of powder just for fun this Year.

I will be using my Omega, but not sure of the load yet. It will be either...

--250 Gr Shockwave over 2 pellets of 777 - or -

--40 Cal200 Gr Hornady with 50 Cal Sabot over 3 pellets of 777 or 110 Gr of Geox

I have watched a really nice 10 point the past two years at the edge of the woods at 185 Yards out (verified by 2 different rangefinders) but was not confident enough in my 250 Gr shockwave at that distance to shoot at it. So like the phone company this year I intend to reach out and touch someone, if he shows up again.

Spect i will use my Renegade 50 cal. prb and 75 or 80gr.of 3f Goex black powder during ML season. If i haven't used my 300+ deer tags, i'lldrag out the Blk.Dia. 50 cal. using 300gr.xtp's and harvester 24 sabot over 80gr. of 3f Goex black powder. [:o]:D Well won't be using the Renegade 50 or 54 sold them. Trying to raise up the coins fer a Flintlock. So i need to get out and fool with my B.D. XR Express SS 50 cal.

Will try out the .73 Jaeger flintlock with .735" round ball & 150 grains of Swiss FFg. Will use on PA deer, if I see any!

My original Knight DISC rifle with a 350 grain sabot and 100 grains pyrodex. Has never let me down yet.

Will use my Knight Revolution II during MZ seazon and during gun season where a long shot might be called for. Will use a 300 grain SST or Speer Unicore bullet.

Will use my Freedom Arms .475 Linebaugh for close range hunting during gun season.

My Encore seems to enjoy 250 grain shockwaves ontop of 100grains worth of Triple 7 pellets. I'm too much of sissy to try 3 50 grain pellets. :D

I wanted to hunt a bull elk with a new T/C Hawkens .50cal I just built this last spring but didn't draw a tag. So I'll try it next year. I'll just fling some sticks at them this year.

My go to rifle is a Knight Wolverine 209 (.50/Thumbhole) topped with a Bushnell Trophy3X9 and shootinga 300 gr. Hornady SST on top of 100 grains of pyrodex, and hopefully Ill break out the ol'T/C Hawken .54 with a 350 gr. Maxi-Hunter over 90 grains of Goex...

My T/C Encore 209X50 loaded with 200g Shockwaves over 130g of Pyrodex pellets. I haven't really had any time to play with it this year and I know how this load shoots.

My Encore 209x50 topped with a Nikon 2.5x7 Buckmaster Scope. My load is a 250 Gr Shockwave over 2 50 gr. American Pioneer Pellets. Also shoot a 209x50 NEF Huntsman with a fixed 4x Simmons. This gun likes a 250 gr. Hornady SST over 2 50 gr American Pioneer Pellets. Killed deer with both last year, both with impressive results.

Savage 10II topped with Zeiss Conquest. Going to give smokeless a run, my load this fall will be 43.5gr 4759 under 250gr sst. My back up is my trusty 700MLS topped with aelite 4200100 gr T7 FFG under 240 XTP. Both prefer 209W primers.

I have 2 options right now with a third possibly in the near future. My son and I drew cow elk this year. I will probably use my CVA Magbolt 50 loaded with either 130gr Pyro pellets and a 300SST/SW or 90gr 777 loose and a 460NE. My son will probably use the CVA Optima 50 and 300SST/SW but I'm still working on that load so it may change.i haven't had that gun long so I'm still wringing it out.My third option is a Lyman GPH/R 50/54 that I'm in the process of getting. I have the peep sight alraedy, just have to get the gun and extra barrel. I'm not sure when I'll get it or if I will have time to get it ready. Time to hit the range.

My Omega topped with a Bushnell Elite 2-9x40, for deer in Michigan. I will use this in both center fire rifle and muzzleloader seasons.( I don't have to worry about using all my tags, never see that many deer) Will use 120 grs of 777 and either a 250 gr or 290 gr Barnes TMZ, Win 777 primers.

Since I sold my encore I will have to use my ruger 77/50 with 120 grains of pyro-select,#11 caps and 185gr nosler's or one of my savages useing IMR4759,250 sst,or barnes spit-fire 245 and win 209.

Plenty-good for whitetails.. although I think your CVA prefers the 300 gr. (in many cases).

This year will be my first year hunting so I applied for deer muzzleloader and shotgun permits but i will only hunt ML if i manage to work up a bit more accurate load.

I also look forward to hunting pheasants on our club property.
