RE: musket caps
Sharp Shooter
Good response - The only time I even touch a cap is when I load one in the capper, usually @ home. I always wonder why people say that handling them (#11's) in the cold is difficult, but then again all of shoot somewhat different... |
RE: musket caps
I use a capper and Remington #11 caps in my inlines , they've always worked just fine . Never felt the need for a hotter cap , even with Pyrodex pellets .

RE: musket caps
"I really believe these new Remington caps are just as good as the Dynamite Nobel 1075+ and the CCI Magnums." I think so too.
While flame volume may be greater with a musket nipple, that flame still has to go through that tiny hole in the base of the nipple, which I suspect has some kind of limiting effect on the amount of the flame that can get into the barrel breech, perhaps? Yes, handling #11 caps is not such a problem if you use a capper, which I agree is a necessary acessory for a hunter....... |
RE: musket caps
ORIGINAL: Sharp Shooter I really believe these new Remington caps are just as good as the Dynamite Nobel 1075+ and the CCI Magnums. If Remington has a new one that matches the Nobels, that would be outstanding. Being I have around 700 Dynamits left in my case, I have plenty of time to hear field reports on any new #11 Rems. |
RE: musket caps
I use them in my System One its way more accurate with them than #11 or 209 and much cleaner shooting. I wish I had a breech plug for the Omega that would use them. Lee

RE: musket caps
The new Remington's do have as much spark as the Dynamite Nobel 1075+ caps. Those are the two caps I will be using.
With a capper handling #11's is really easy. I have the rifle version and it holds more than 75 caps. it is really worth the money. It is kind of a pain putting all of the caps in with the open end up but once you get them in just keep them in until it runs out of caps. I use this at the range and I will use it hunting. It still has not ran out of caps yet. I really suggest you guys give it a try. Even the 209 and Musket versions are helpful. The first link is the one I have (rifle version) the second like has some others. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712&id=0006419 210328a&navCount=2&podId=0006419&paren tId=cat20819&navAction=push&catalogCode=IG &rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat2081 9&hasJS=true http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712&rid=&i ndexId=cat20819&navAction=push&navCount=1& amp;parentType=index&parentId=cat20819&id= 0006419 |
