I can just see cascadedad when he was typing that out... he had a grin from earto ear - since he has two Whites coming to his house already. But I bet you a dollar he is on pins and needles - hoping that nothing goes wrong with the mail system...

I'm holding my breath - I think there's two composite and one laminate located. I should just swoop them all up and sort it out later!
I'm in the "funny zone" - purchase decision made, no possession .
Sabotloader- that's sick and twisted ... and I like it!
Cascadedad- are your two Whites composite, laminate, or one each?

I deserved that!...........But honestly, I have already thought about it. I called the Midvale store earlier today to confirm the rifles were shipped. The manager said that the orders go through corporate and they get sent out right away. He said he THOUGHT they went out yesterday. Boy that is real assuring.
Oh well, just have to wait. Will likely be a very long weekend for me.
Philnie, both are SUPOSED to be composite. I want to use them for hunting and the composites are said to be lighter. After shooting sabotloaders laminated, it shot like a powder puff, so I am not worried about the extra recoil of a little lighter gun. My 14 y.o. son loves to shoot 3 1/2"ers out of my 12 ga, so I am not worried about him. He also shoots my pre-64 model 70 30-06 and it has a steel butt plate. Didn't faze him.

Hi cascadedad,
Yes, I read the composite version is appox .75lb lighter than the laminate - so the base composite should be around 6.75lb or so ... as you know WA state doesn't allow scopes so with sling and incidentals we're talking 7lbs max - not bad at all!
I've shot both 3 1/2in 12ga turkey loads and my M70 featherweight 30-06 and know what you're referencing here. Its a comfort to know this info, let me tell you!
With the reknowned WA big game weatherI think the composite makes a lot of sense ... let us all know how things go when your new 'toys' arrive and how they shoot what loads, etc ...
cheers,
phil

Actually I took my laminated stock and used some Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Wax and waxed the laminated stock three times now, inside and out. I used a small model builders paint brush and painted it on nice and thick. Then buffed it back off.
I have noted that any liquid beads right up on the stock so I am not really concerned about the wet weather. Although from all my readings and talking to Washington residents, here in Wisconsin we have no where near the rain fall as you do.

Hi cayugad- yes I understand about water sealing, but a second consideration is temperature swings. What kind of temp swings do you all experience?
Of course I'm mostly concerned with 'minute of deer/elk/game', but I'm programmed after several years of service rifle competions - there is nothing other than POA, right?
