I was looking at a chart and KIK powder raises your velocity up by about 100fps vs using Goex. The thing I like about Goex is that it is American Made. I was just on a web page and due to international stuff it is becoming hard to import KIK.
KIK is an excellent powder. It will yield 8-10% more energy than equal measures of Goex and burns cleaner. It is also cheaper than Goex. I am very impressed with it and it is just about all I use anymore. Whatever you get, you should at least get a lb or two of the KIK and make up your own mind. I believe the import problems were in the past and are no longer an issue.

I have used Pyrodex, 777, & App in my Omega.
I will stick with the APP. I think it shoots harder,
than Pyro. or 777 and its a breeze to clean-up
after shooting. But you hit the nail on the head
"its what you like" & "what your ML likes" only
time & practice will tell.

It is manufactured in Slovenia, which used to be a republic of Yugoslavia, when it was part of the USSR. According to the label on the cans, they have been in continuous operation for 152 years, which means they have been at it about as long as Goex. It is a a black powder, not a sub, so yes, it certainly still smokes and smells like any other black powder when burned.

It does not leave as much residue in a barrel, when fired, as Goex, much like Swiss, or like the difference between using Goex Fffg over Ffg. In my rifles,KIK Ffg performsvitually the same as Goex Fffg, at the same measure, both in velocities produced and the amount of residue itleaves in a barrelafter firing.

I have heard others refer to KIK as "the poor man's Swiss", which I think is a pretty good summary of it's overall performance and value.

Well every think except 777 works well for me,so I'd say try them all only be carful of 777 when you get crud rings the only way to be sure is to clean it good ever time to be sure the projectile is all the way down on the powder. Lee

I can only find Goex and Swiss around here. There is one other shop I am going to call and see what they have. I really might look at KIK even though I don't like the fact that it is made in Slovenia. I am sure it is made with good quality though. Then I would just order cases of it over the internet. It also runs a few buck cheaper than Goex. How would you compare KIK to Schetzen with velocity, cleanlyness, and quality? I just don't want to buy some KIK and pay hazmat then the powder would not work for me. Do you think it will work good for me out of my 54cal renegade? I plan to shoot roundballs and 310gr baffalo ballets.
Also, Doese KIK happen to have a web page?

Thanks

I would snatch a jug/tin of Swiss - hand over my money over the register& never look back as I exited that store. Swiss is on a higher quality cloud than the rest. Goex offers very good consitency. KIK reminds of a substitute powder now availablecalled Black Mag III. Your first jug of BM III may perform noticeably different than the 2nd one you buy. Goex used to have this problem. They seemed to have solved it a few years ago. It is my opinion that KIK stillmay havethis problem.

Just my opinion - everything I mentioned coming from folks like you who report their findings in message boards like this one. I have not used KIK personally.

I'm done here on this thread.

Adios!

Do you have that problem with KIK sabinajiles?

I am not going to go spend a bunch of money on Swiss when I can get good quality out of Goex, Schuetzen, or KIK. Although I do know that the price is raised for a reason and that is because you get even better quality. I might try a pound or to of it just to see. It is around the same amount as my Pyrodex select that I got. We will see, maybe I will try swiss and shoot nothing but it or that could go with any powder. Doese Swiss burn cleaner? Also, where is it made? I do know that it seems like more places carry Swiss.
