RE: Omega Comb
sabotloader,
The Bushnell 3200 is the same scope my son has on his Omega. It's mounted on the Leupold QR rings/base set up. There's ample clearance for scope covers as shown in picture. How much higher is your scope than my sons pictured? ![]() |

ENCOREMAN
ACTUally I think mine is a bit lower than that... When I put my scope covers on they almost touch the barrel.... Naw, I went back and looked at it really looks like they are about the same I think I am just a stock creeper - goes back to the way they made us shoot in the military back in the old days... I mean I litterally jam mycheek into the stock - the comb - the cheek bone is right on top of the comb... When I lay a couple pieces of leather on the comb and drop on to the scope everything is good - less than a 1/4" of leather... |
RE: Omega Comb
sabotloader,
I close my eyes and throw theOmega up onmy shoulder and open my eyes and I'm looking straight down the scope. I don't like making head adjustments ormove my cheek off the stock eitherto look through the scope. I've got a fat face, so my cheeksmust be working for me.....don't need a pad.LOL |
RE: Omega Comb
ENCOREMAN
I do the exact same thing and I am looking right over the base and into the base of the rings.... On the Remington with the same scope - boom I am right on... I am not sure it has anything to do with fat or skinny cheeks, cuade I have the fat variety also- just the way I get on the stock. never had a real problem before, but for some reason this one is not working. The only time I really notice a real problem is bench shooting, because when I am bench shooting I really do not hold the front of the gun at all - it just rests in the the front rest and I put my finger tips on the top rail of wood along the barrel. I use my cheek placement - pressedon the stock to help reduce recoil and the upward thrust of the gun because i am not really holding it. I have a firm grip on the pistol grip and it pulled back into the shoulder but realy no presure on the forearm to hold the gun at all. Most time I do not even know when the gun is going off until it does. I think what I might do for a temp fix is fashion some sort of a leather lift to cement on the stock soI can take it off if i do not like it. |
RE: Omega Comb
I had the same problem when i put a red dot on my rifle i solved it by making a cheek rest out of soft pipe insulation. I slit the insulation and put
it on the top of stock. You can hold it in place with rubber bands or a slip on sheath that holds a few bullets. It aint purity but its cheap and does the job. James M. |

That might just be what I need for range shooting - it certainly is a place to start - had not thought of that one. I really think I will be ok for hunting because of the different grip I'll have on the forearm.... thanks mike |
RE: Omega Comb
martinfaw,
"Good idea" Now that's using your noggin.;) sabotloader, Let us know how this works out for you. |
RE: Omega Comb
How about one of these? They say that even though it's a 50mm objective lens, it sits as low as a 36mm. Looks kind of cool, too. And the prices start at only $699.00! You would probably have to modify the scope cover, but that might not be too difficult.

I have seen the adds for these.... but I am so _ _ _ _ _ old fashionedI can not even imagine me having one... In fact I feel pain for that objective lens - that warp has got to hurt.... mike |
RE: Omega Comb
